Reducing costs while growing revenue
Trinity Mirror is one of Mediaspectrum’s best and oldest customers, working with the technology platform since about 2006. Trinity has about 140 plus national and regional print titles and over 500 websites.
When Mediaspectrum was first engaged by Trinity Mirror, Trinity had a primary focus of massive cost reduction through system consolidation. As a business that grew through acquisitions, they had 15 or more advertising systems and many more editorial systems scattered throughout their various business units all over the UK. They really wanted to consolidate all advertising and editorial production onto a single consolidated infrastructure.
They now have have deployed the entire Mediaspectrum software stack. Everything from our advertising sales application, our advertising production system, AdWatch, our editorial content management app, ContentWatch as well as our mobile apps and self-service offering.
In December of 2012, Trinity officially launched their mobile strategy using Mediaspectrum’s mobile platform, Adrenalin, which was very well received by consumers and investors alike and helping them see significant digital revenue growth.
Already, this platform enabled business transformation is responsible for a 30% reduction in operating expenses and an 80% reduction in production expenses, and is now driving new revenue – with, for example, self service advertising delivering an annualised £10m in new revenue in its first six months of roll-out. As Trinity Mirrror completes the consolidation of advertising sales and operations onto this enterprise platform ongoing cost savings and incremental revenue gains continue to flow. In addition, a tablet ‘app’ strategy is supported by capabilities integrated into both the editorial and advertising platforms – supporting rapid, low cost innovation in new publishing channels with immediate monetisation via advertising.
